DECEMBER 29, 2007 Through a recent purchase, we acquired a large number of Austrian (and some German) notgeld notes from the 1920s. These notes were used as an emergency currency due to coin and government banknote shortages caused by hoarding, much like American scrip was used during the depression years. There are literally thousands of different designs, many of them quite colorful. Notes vary in size with most notes comparable to U.S. fractional currency in size, however some are much smaller and some are closer to modern currency size. We are offering these notes in lots of 10 different at an attractive price. Each packet contains 10 different notes. An excellent starter collection.
